Who is Dave?

I am a freelance writer. By that I mean I write for a living - not for a hobby nor for pocket money - and so I take your requirements and your deadlines seriously. I'm a professional.

I write in whatever style you need - formal business, chatty informative, surreally bicycle - and I am flexible, accurate, consistent, encouraging of feedback and willing to do what it takes to get it written right.

You want a little biography? OK...

...I was born in the Black Country (a once-industrial region of the West Midlands in the UK) in 1969 and so can legitimately claim to have seen the 60s but I don't really remember much about it. Having commuted from the age of 11, I understand the value of a good read (and the importance of good writing). At 18, I left home for the seductive glamour of studying law in Coventry. Law degree in hand, I joined the Civil Service for 4 weeks and finally left 19 years later. Those 19 years included all sorts of writing: papers, articles, handbooks, training courses & materials, policy & guidance, briefings, submissions to ministers, etc. During that time I also began writing poetry and fiction of various lengths.

I like books, jazz, washing my hair, making paella (unless you're Spanish in which case I call it risotto), comics and tai chi chuan. And I love writing.

I live in Barcelona and have not found it to be the slightest barrier to working with anybody, anywhere in the world (thanks to the twin marvels of the telephone and the internet).
